My Origin Story

I wish that I could tell you that I was always running around with my camera as a child, always taking photo’s or that I was the next Martin Scorsese (I love films), but I didn’t have those sorts of interests until later in life.

I have always been curious about my creativity. But my curiosity leaned more towards what my physical limits were, that’s why I joined the Royal Marines at 18. But little did I know just how much that would teach me about the mind as much as the body.

Joining the Royal Marines developed the proactive approach and an awareness that is actually very well suited to being a wedding photographer, as well as the ability to simply talk with people of all walks of life.

I grew up in King’s Lynn in Norfolk where I live today with my future Wife, Laura, and our two dogs Rufus and Luna. King’s Lynn is the perfect place to get on the road and move around the country, it’s ideal for my passion of hiking and wild camping with Rufus in the Peak District or Lake District.

Photography found me in my 30’s, when I would establish a landscape photography hobby because of my fondness for rambling around the mountains. Being made redundant from my then job made me reassess the course of my life, finally deciding to pursue something that had intrigued me my entire life, the creativity of photography. Wedding Photography in particular.

The individual charm of a wedding and the character of the people that are involved with it intrigues and stimulates my creativity. It reminds me of a theatre production with differing acts. The unpredictability of not knowing what may come next feeds the candid documentary side of my creativity, whilst the intention and glamour of posing a couple satisfies my need to elevate your couples photos into something that you would never take yourselves.

My APPROACH

Believing in the romance of honesty & intention.

My work is a blend of luxurious editorial intention and the honesty of documentary imagery. Approaches that prioritise elegance and beautiful raw expression. After spending years believing that the two couldn’t belong in the same space, that a photographer could only ever be editorial or documentary, I am trying to prove that the two can live in a beautiful romance together.
